A sport is a contest in which people perform
physical activities according to specific set of rules and compete against each
other. Sports are important part of life, providing physical and emotional advantages
of health. Sports teach many crucial lives lesson that last forever. They shape
our life in various ways. They are important part of any nation’s progress and
development as they provide vast number of opportunities to come together,
shared their culture and work together for common goals. At the same time, sports
develop a sense of responsibilities, character building, discipline, dedication
and focus.

INDIVIDUAL SPORTS
In these sports, competition is determined by only individual
performance. The player doesn’t require interacting as a team. Examples include
running, swimming, karate, cycling, table tennis, Golf.
TEAM SPORTS
These sports involve two sides competing against
each other performing specific or designed roles like defenders, strikers and
many more. These require team effort and well-designed strategies for any side
to emerge victorious.
Team sports involve: Football, basketball, baseball,
hockey, cricket, polo, soccer, volleyball etc.
INDOOR SPORTS
These indoor sports involve fewer players and
smaller movements. These are confined to smaller space.
Indoor sports include: Tennis, badminton and
volleyball are performed in a specially designed halls or areas.
OUTDOOR SPORTS
These sports are confined to large spaces and
involve greater movements and more players.
Outdoor sports include: football, rugby, and cricket,
often require vast fields or grounds along with any available grass or pitch.
TYPES OF TEAMS SPORTS
There are following types of team sports:

games

games
INVASION GAMES
In invasion games, a team or any player has to
attack on another team area or player to score a point. For Example, Football
is an invasion game as one team has to retain the ball and take the ball to
other team’s half and then try to score the goal (invade other team area).
NET GAME
In net games, a net is involved in the sport that
separated the players. For Example, Badminton is a net game in which there is a
net in middle of ground or area that separated both players, opposite to each
other.
FIELDING AND STRIKING GAMES
The fielding and striking games involve a set of
fielders and one person striking the ball or any other object at one time and
running a set course. For Example, in Cricket a Batter strikes the cricket ball
and has to run from one crease to another to score a run. There are also fielders
from opposite team chasing the ball.
TARGET GAMES
In target games, a person or player has to aim at
object and projects it to designated area. For Example, golf is a target game
in which player has to hit the golf ball to set or designated area, aiming to
put the golf ball into a set hole.
At the end, sports regardless of origin, language,
unite people. They create a platform for active participation that helps in
building character, develops strength, stamina and leaderships qualities.
