Education is essential for the growth of a country. It's great that Pakistan has made progress in education, but there are still some weaknesses that need to be addressed, especially in rural areas. Teachers play a really important role in making sure that students receive a good education.

The education system in Pakistan has many issues. Improving the quality of education in public schools is a huge challenge, but it's really important for the growth of the country. The government needs to take an active role in this area.

It's really sad to see that so many children are impacted by crises and require urgent educational support. The pandemic has made things even worse, with many children in low- and middle-income countries unable to read a simple story. It's really important that political leaders, policymakers, youth, and all stakeholders join together the transform education and improve the lives of millions of children.

It's important to have a shared vision for education to be successful. Leaders should have meaningful conversations with diverse stakeholders about the goals of education. Sierra Leone consulted with a wide group of stakeholders, including previously excluded groups, to develop their most recent education sector plan. The plan prioritizes foundational learning as the floor to give every child a chance for longer-term educational success.

Redesigning education systems often results in limited results for children’s learning and development. We need to focus more on what students are expected to learn—not just how that content is delivered—and we need to pay special attention to those who are learning the least. Teaching at the Right Level is a promising approach in recent years. The approach is most effective for education systems that have large numbers of students failing to master literacy and numeracy by the end of primary school.

The country has also used data to support the realignment behind the updated pedagogical core while investing in teacher training at all levels. Sierra Leone has digitized its annual school census and cut the data collection time to 10 weeks. The Ministry digitized and linked education data going all the way back to 2015 to address disparities within the education system.

Education is the foundation of our future, and we must act now to ensure that every child receives a quality education.
